GBV Program
Supporting and Empowering Young Mothers
Before Jifunze International was established, our founder, Victoria, sponsored a young woman named Cynthia. Over the years, Cynthia continued her education and recently joined Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) to study as a laboratory technician.
Before moving to Mombasa for her studies, Cynthia developed and led a 10-session Young Mothers Program designed to support young mothers with practical knowledge, confidence, and skills to create positive outcomes for themselves and their children.
Young Mothers Program
The program provided a safe and supportive environment where young mothers could learn, share experiences, and build confidence.
The sessions covered important topics, including
Meditation and well-being
Communication with your child
Dating and motherhood
Technology and your child
Conflict resolution and forgiveness
Infant nutrition
Infant first aid
Self-confidence
Gender-Based Violence (GBV) awareness
At the final session, participants received certificates of completion to recognize their commitment to the program. We also partnered with a local beauty school, whose students provided a special pampering experience for the young mothers to celebrate their achievements.
Looking Ahead
The program was warmly received by participants, and we hope to continue running these sessions during school breaks.
Our goal is to reach more young mothers, including those who are still attending high school, and provide them with education, practical support, confidence, and a safe environment in which to learn and grow.

Our Partners
We are grateful to the educators, volunteers, community members, and local organisations who contributed their time and expertise to support the Young Mothers Program.
Their support has helped us create a positive environment where young mothers can develop practical skills, build confidence, and feel supported as they continue their education and care for their children.
