New Born Unit
Improving Healthcare for Mothers and Newborns
In 2024, Jifunze International partnered with Rotary District 9560, Rotary eClub of Outback Australia, Mission Beach Rotary Club, Cairns Trinity Rotary Club, Emily's Hope, and the Ede Family to strengthen healthcare services at Kajiado County Referral Hospital.
Together, we donated 27 pieces of essential medical equipment to support the hospital's Maternity, Theatre, and Newborn Unit. As the primary referral hospital serving Kajiado County, these resources help improve the quality of care for mothers, newborns, and the wider community.
Medical Equipment Donated
The donation included:
Fetal and maternal monitor
Nebulisers
Mobile suction units
Child blood pressure monitors
Vital signs monitors
Heavy-duty wheelchairs
Manual hospital beds
Pulse oximeters with charging stands
Paediatric SpO₂ sensors
Portable fetal Doppler monitors
These essential medical devices assist healthcare professionals in monitoring patients, providing emergency care, and improving outcomes for newborn and premature babies.
Training Healthcare Professionals
Providing equipment is only part of the solution. To ensure it could be used safely and effectively, members of the Harleys Medical team travelled to Kajiado County to provide hands-on training for doctors and nurses.
This training equipped healthcare staff with the knowledge and confidence to use the new equipment effectively, helping deliver better care for patients throughout the region.

This project has strengthened the capacity of Kajiado County Referral Hospital to provide high-quality maternal and newborn healthcare.
By combining modern medical equipment with professional training, we are helping improve health outcomes and giving more mothers and babies the opportunity for a healthy start to life.
